Air India Reveals Refreshed Brand Identity and Modern Aircraft Livery
Air India, under the ownership of Tata Group, proudly introduces its revamped brand identity and contemporary aircraft livery, embodying the spirit of a dynamic new India. This momentous occasion marks a significant step in its Vihaan.AI transformation, evolving the national institution into an emblem of national inspiration.
The fresh design takes inspiration from the iconic Indian window shape, a historical element associated with Air India. It has been reimagined as a captivating gold window frame that plays a central role in the brand’s new design ethos – symbolizing a ‘Window of Possibilities.’
Central to Air India’s rejuvenated identity is the new logo symbol named ‘The Vista.’ This emblem draws from the apex of the gold window frame, signifying boundless opportunities, forward-thinking, and the airline’s resolute and confident vision for the future.
The brand-new aircraft livery and design of Air India showcase a rich palette featuring deep red, aubergine, and accents of gold. This is complemented by a pattern inspired by the chakra, exuding a sense of national pride. The distinctive ‘Air India Sans’ font has also been crafted exclusively for the airline, effortlessly blending assurance with warmth to position Air India as an inclusive, premium, and approachable carrier.
Sharing his thoughts, Campbell Wilson, the CEO & MD of Air India, commented, “Our transformative new brand reflects our ambition to establish Air India as a world-class airline, catering to passengers from all corners of the world. It proudly represents the new India on the global platform. The revitalized Air India is not only bold, confident, and vibrant, but also retains a sense of warmth and a deep connection to its illustrious history and traditions, which have set global benchmarks for hospitality.”
Developed in collaboration with the renowned brand transformation agency, FutureBrand, the revamped brand identity seamlessly blends Air India’s glorious legacy with its aspiration for excellence and innovation in the future. This partnership has yielded a standout brand design that embodies the essence of a premium global airline with an unmistakable Indian identity at its core.
Travelers will be introduced to the new logo on their journeys starting December 2023, as the first Airbus A350 adorned with the new livery joins the Air India fleet.
“Colors, patterns, shapes, and their confluence hold significance, but our actions communicate volumes. We are in the midst of a comprehensive transformation aimed at redefining the role of India’s flagship airline,” remarked Wilson.
In this era of transformation, Air India’s new presentation signifies not just a visual change, but also a promise to evolve into a carrier that truly reflects the aspirations of a rising India.
