In the first half of 2023, Air Europa, a subsidiary of Globalia, has taken a strategic approach by embracing codeshare agreements to accelerate its recovery. During this period, the airline has witnessed a significant surge of 34% in the number of passengers who have flown under this collaborative arrangement compared to the previous year (Air Europa’s Leap in the Americas: Three Million Seats in 2023).
At present, Air Europa has established partnerships with over twenty airlines, facilitating over 200 daily flights that connect travelers to more than 110 destinations across 35 countries. It is worth noting that the volume of such collaborative operations rebounded in 2022, as discussed in the report “Air Europa, Easyjet, and Air Nostrum Catching Up in Recovery”.
The most recent addition to this web of collaborations is with Czech Airlines, the primary airline of the Czech Republic. This latest agreement has enabled Air Europa to integrate its flight code onto two direct flights weekly, connecting Madrid and Prague seamlessly.
Highlighting the significance of this new route, the Spanish airline emphasized the considerable benefits it offers to passengers. This initiative opens doors to enhanced connectivity with other domestic and international destinations, particularly within the Americas.
The partnership with Czech Airlines also serves as a reinforcement of Air Europa’s presence in Central Europe. In addition to the Madrid-Prague route, the airline operates codeshare flights to other destinations in collaboration with various airlines, such as Air Serbia for Belgrade, Tarom for Bucharest, and KLM for Krakow and Warsaw via Amsterdam.
Furthermore, Air Europa’s leadership continues to diligently work towards expanding its offerings by leveraging its existing agreements and forging new partnerships with emerging airlines. The aim is to broaden the current network, focusing predominantly on opportunities in Latin America, while also exploring prospects in Europe, North America, and Asia.
